There have been about ten too many "unofficial" biographies of James Hyston, but for the kind of writer whose goal is to shift a few thousand copies at Christmas-time the meteoric rise to fame of Dynamix is an opportunity that can't be ignored. The band is, apparently, the biggest boyband of the century. The Beatles of the digital age. Ridiculously wealthy, marketable, and lucky -- and only looking to become wealthier, more marketable, and even more lucky. Charmed life for some.
The biographies don't fare too badly when it comes to the basic background information. It is, for example, true that James is an only child. His father did leave when he was six, using the excuse of "exciting opportunities in Australia" to mean sleeping with women and doing little else in a place where the sun shines more. His mother did find herself forced to move back to her seaside hometown of Scarborough, because living in Leeds was too expensive, and that was the place that little Jimmy Hyston grew up. That information is public domain stuff. Standard.
Not-so-public domain is the effect the move had. Perhaps it was the absense of his father, maybe it was more that his mum was constantly working in an effort to provide for him, or maybe it was always how it was going to go and he was just wired that way, but James Hyston at ten years old faced anxiety problems on a fairly large scale. He worried about everything, worries that then manifested themselves in OCD tendencies. When he was in control, when he was doing things properly, things felt better.
